Happy Thanksgiving! This week, I had the hardest time trying to figure out what to write about when something I discussed with my sister a couple weeks ago. If you're a big a Disney fan as I am, or a big gaming person, you might have heard of this one app that came out more than a year ago. It's a mobile app called Magic Kingdoms created by Disney. The purpose of this game is to clear the curse that has covered the Magic Kingdom. It's your typical game where you are given missions to fulfill and you build your own kingdom with new buildings and characters as you complete the missions.
The characters that join your kingdom range from all sorts of Disney characters. You have Mickey and his friends, the Toy Story gang, Anna and Elsa, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, and many other characters. I just love it when games and shows create these cross-over situations and the characters interact with people they normally wouldn't ever meet. It creates storylines that seem impossible to exist and allows for more choices to exist. It shows that the universe is bigger than that one character thinks it is and I think that's awesome.
By now you are probably wondering what any of this is important. Well, we find ourselves in situations like this without even really knowing. We all have our own groups we hang out with and interact with. We have our own group that essentially is our "show". We often do not go out of our way to meet people who don't belong in our group. But God tells us to interact with everyone. He is calling us to do what the characters in the mobile game do. We need to create a community where everyone comes together for the same purpose. The characters in the game have the purpose of saving the kingdom from the curse. Our purpose is to tell others about what Jesus has done and is still doing now. We need to become united and work together, instead of in our individual groups.
How do we do this? Well in Colossians 3:14 it says, "And over all these virtues put on love, which bind them all together in perfect unity." This means that it's through love that it is possible, and really only through the Love God gives us.
"How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!"
Psalm 133:1
