Remember Who You Are...
Hello! Welcome to this new blog run by me and my sister. In day to day life, we both see God in so much, and it’s amazing to see how He’s designed everything to come back to Him. So we started this blog to share the cool things we’ve noticed in songs, movies, tv shows, and life in general and how they relate to God.
That being said, have you ever seen Disney’s The Lion King? It’s a classic Disney movie about how a lion cub grows up in tragic circumstances, and has to face off against his uncle to reclaim his throne.
In the middle of all this, Simba loses himself. He’s lost, confused, and is generally running away from his problems. When Rafiki finds him, and ‘guides’ him to his father, it prompts one of the deepest moments of the film.
Rafiki takes Simba to see his father, but all Simba sees is himself. When he looks harder, he is able to see his father, and has a short conversation with him.
“Simba, you have forgotten me.” His father says.
“No!” Simba replies. “How could I?”
“You have forgotten who you are, and so have forgotten me.” Mufasa says. “Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the circle of life.”
“But how can I go back? I’m not who I used to be.”
“”Remember who you are. You are my son, and the one true king. Remember who you are... Remember...”
No matter how many times I watch this scene, it always blows my mind. As Christians, we often forget who we are in Christ. We get so caught up in life and the things of the world that we forget who our Father is, and who he has made us to be.
In the same way that Simba has to remember who he is to be victorious, we also must remember who we are.
Rafiki tells Simba that his father lives in him, and it is the same way with us and God.
As you go on with the rest of your week, remember who you are.
1 Peter 2:9
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”
